iPad Mini News, Rumours, Features, Price , & Release Date - Rumors over a mini iPad from Apple have gained a new turn. Some Chinese sources report that Apple has made deals with Foxconn and Pegatron to build a small 7-inch version of its famous iPad tablet for late this year. In fact, the rumor over a mini iPad has been there since mid last year. As of now, Apple has surfaced its third generation iPad (informally called iPad 3). As per rumors, the Cupertino firm is now looking to unveil its small version, which will compete with the new line of 7-inch tablets from a variety of companies including Amazon. Here we share some interesting clues about the rumored mini iPad.

Rumored specs and features
According to tech TechRadar, the potential mini iPad will sport a 7.85-inch display that will feature the same screen resolution of the iPad 2 and original i.e. 1024 x 768 pixels. The third-gen iPad has a high clarity Retina Display with a whopping resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Notable advantage of the mini iPad will be that it will be smaller, thinner and lighter. Users can carry the device around in their trips easily packing it in their handbags. Most likely, the new iPad will come with the iOS 6, Apple’s next generation iOS version, which is set to come out of cover at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June this year.

Rumored release date and price
Well, the new iPad from Apple is expected to come out late this year. Since last year, there have been rumors suggesting that Apple’s new mini iPad will come in the fall 2013. Whenever Apple releases the rumored device, it is certain that the company will price it below $300. According to IHS iSuppli estimate, price tag of a 7-inch iPad from Apple will be around $250.

It is quite clear that Apple plans a new iPad to defend the competition from the kind of tablets that are available for low price in market. Amazon kicked off a new trend in tablet market last year with its $199 Kindle Fire, which had been the cheapest Android tablet for a period. Of course, Apple will have to price its new mini iPad lower in order to gain momentum on market.

Competitors
A large number of competitors are there in stores for a mini iPad from Apple. In other words, Apple is eyeing to take on a set of competitors in 7 inch tablet segment. It will be a pesky task for Apple to prepare its 7-inch tablet competitive to products like the Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 and 7.7 and others. It is because most of the successful 7-inch tablets are there with their low price factor.

Steve Jobs wouldn’t have allowed it
Interestingly, Apple’s former CEO, co-founder and also the key designer Steve Jobs was against a mini iPad. As per reports, he had rejected the idea of a mini tablet from the company. In response to Samsung’s launch of a 7-inch Galaxy Tab against its original iPad, Mr. Jobs said that Apple didn’t think a tablet with a 7-inch would be great product. “The reason we wouldn’t make a 7-inch tablet isn’t because we don’t want to hit a price point, it’s because we don’t think you can make a great tablet with a 7-inch screen,” Steve said.
“The 7-inch tablets are tweeners, too big to compete with a smartphone and too small to compete with an iPad,” he further added aiming at Samsung’s 7-inch tablet. Steve was really an avid advocate of a large 10-inch tablet. “There are clear limits of how close you can physically place elements on a touch screen before users cannot reliably tap, flick or pinch them,” he said.
