Escaped Lion In Essex! - It seriously cant be that hard to find a lion in the UK! Can It? Essex police have called off the hunt looking for a lion that was spotted in a field in Essex.It was last night when a member of the public called the police to tell them that a Lion was on the loose.Members of the public where told to stay in their houses and not to go out until the wild animal is found!The hunt has now been called off and the police have called the hunt for the lion off.When you look at the photo you can see that its not a lion as it looks like a dog or a big cat.

Essex 'lion': Spotter adamant 'big cat is out there' - A couple who claimed to have seen an animal which looked like a lion in an Essex field have said they believe the creature is still at large.

A search for the "very large animal" seen near Earl Hall Drive in St Osyth, near Clacton-on-Sea, at about 19:00 BST on Sunday was called off on Monday.

Gill Atkin, on holiday in the village with her husband Steve, said: "I still don't think it was a domestic cat."

Lion in Essex - A cat owner has said she believes her Maine Coon cat, called Teddy Bear, is the animal at the centre of the lion hunt in Essex.

Ginny Murphy, from St Osyth, said her cat regularly went hunting in the fields around the town.
